Plum Grove Equestrian Center is home to several lesson horses. The center’s name comes from one of the favorites here, Badgers Plum Peppy . “Plum” has been in the family since summer of 2000. She caught Cindy Douphinette’s eye in 1997 while at a sale barn in Merrimac, MA. Cindy’s friend, Mary, purchased Plum and boarded her at the Douphinette’s, later selling her to Cindy’s daughter, Dani. Plum attended Cazenovia College with Dani, graduating with her Bachelor’s degree too! When Dani and Plum graduated from college and envisioned the equestrian center, Dani looked for the right name for the place. Since the center would be in Groveland, Dani decided to name the center, Plum Grove. Chester, CJ and Hayley have been family members since 2001. Chester had been Dani’s pony, from age 12 to 15. She sold him to a family in New York, but upon graduating from college, she bought him back and he has proven to be a wonderful teacher. Through the foster care program at the MSPCA, we help horses by taking them into Plum Grove and assisting the staff at Nevin’s Farm in Methuen, MA in the evaluation and placement process for potential adoptees.
